Disclaimer
RSVP Required: The max number of people for this event is 5 including the event leader. An RSVP is required to manage the size.
Face Covers: Please bring your own face mask, bandana, scarf, etc to cover your face. Harris County issued an order mandating everyone over the age of 10 to wear a face-covering when in public, with exceptions. The order is effective from April 27 to May 26, 2020.
Keep Distance: At least 6 feet between people is required at all times.
Stay home if: You have been exposed to anyone with Covid-19, have any symptoms, are at high risk or aren't ready to be around others outside of your household.
BCO is a pretty laid back in general but during this time we will ask you to stay home if you're not willing to follow all requirements above. This is temporary and we'll be back to normal as soon as possible.

West Side - Bear Creek Park Trails
Walking the shady, historic trails in Bear Creek Park

This is great for a scenic walk in a forested, historic area of west Houston. We'll pass an old cemetery from the 1800's, a homestead foundation, and walk down an old road also from the early 1900's. Approximately 5 1/2 miles total out and back walking shaded, easy trails. These trails are very well maintained by the Boy Scouts.
ATTENTION ELs or potential ELs: Consider this another option for leading walks on the west side! I would love it if others used these trails for beginner hiking or walking events.
Note:
- There are restrooms by the Pavillion, but I am not sure if they are open.
- If it rains or is too muddy, I will need to cancel. Check the calendar before you head out.
- Wear runners, trail runners, or hiking boots
- You can wear shorts, but we will walk through some narrow trail areas with high grass. Beware of ticks - this forest has lots of wildlife.
- Feel free to bring a loaded backpack for training
