Dinner’s on Us
Fran Zandstra and I have been volunteering at a Food Rescue non-profit organization call Second Servings. They are in need of donations and volunteers. You can follow the links to their website to learn more about this wonderful organization and get involved. They have recently added a special activity for the month of April that helps devastated hospitality workers. If you are looking to help others in this time of need, then please consider this outstanding organization.
The Organization
Second Servings is Houston’s only prepared and perishable food rescue organization. Since 2015, they have been redirecting unserved and unsold food from retailers, sports venues, distributors, hotels, etc., to the people who really need it at shelters, soup kitchens, low-income housing, and many other charities.
Dinner’s on Us
Second Servings has partnered with Houston-based Sysco and Hess Corp. to prepare as many as 10,000 meals a week for distribution to the the hospitality industry (restaurants, hotels, convention service workers), which has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. The project will continue from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Thursday.
