Memorial Park: The Whole Thing
A 4-6 mile hike from one end to the other

Let’s meet in the famous Rugby Fields parking lot for a 2-3 hour hike. We’ll head to the east-most end of the park, then curve back on it’s woodsiest rails and along Buffalo Bayou. It’s Houston’s most “I can’t believe this is in Houston” venue.
Be sure to bring at least a 750 ml bottle of water, and perhaps some electrolytes now that we're into the heat. Bug spray might be a good idea if it's been raining. Sunscreen is optional as we are under the trees 90% of the time. And it’s a hike, not a run. Some of the trail foliage gets pretty thick in a couple of places, but is still passable. There are also several short up and downhill sections, and there may be the odd fallen tree to clamber over, so wear good runners or hikers.
I'll be wearing my back pack in training for a trip later this summer, and the uneven terrain here is perfect for this.
May cancel if it’s pouring or too muddy, so check the event listing that morning.
