2019 Training Ride Series

Ready to get in cycling shape?  Time to step up your riding skills and distance?  Or, planning on riding the MS150?

MS150 is NOT a requirement, a large number of our cyclists who ride this Series are riding just for fun, exercise, skill, and distance.

This year we are training a little differently, we'll be riding with Schlumberger Cycling Club.  The cycling club has rides year, with weekly rides during the training period of January to April.  You can register as an individual for $120 or as a 3-person "family" for $220. This fee includes the weekend of the MS150 at La Grange if you are doing the MS150.  I will not be doing the MS150, but I have already registered and paid for the training and plan on riding most of the training rides! ~ Kelly

This is where you register and pay directly for the training series: https://slbcycling.org

(the registration is a little slow - just give it time to process)

- Organized and fully supported rides every Saturday from January – April; monthly rides from June – December. Rides typically have 3 different route lengths from about 25 miles to about 60 miles. The start location for each ride changes each week, but generally, we ride west, northwest, and north of Houston
- Early season coaches to assist new members on the ride. Also, we offer No-Drop groups for the first couple months of the season.
- Rest stops on every ride with plenty of drinks and snacks to help keep you going
- Port-a-Potties for your convenience
- Support and Gear (SAG) drivers out on the route to assist members as needed
- Detailed maps to keep you from getting lost
- Two campouts a year (campsites paid for by the club)
- Safety Classes for new members and refresher classes every 3 years for returning members
- Free bike clothing just for volunteering with the club

- MS150 support including luxury tent accommodations in La Grange, transportation for your luggage, bike storage, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and after-ride meal, camaraderie, team tents with chairs on both days for lunch, and a team tent in Austin

This is an incredible opportunity to do several (about 11-13) fully supported rides.  We typically start with shorter distances that allow cyclists to get their riding legs in shape and learn to ride in a group if group riding is new to you.

Each week we offer 2-3 distance choices, starting short and moving up in distance.  If you are a strong rider you can choose to ride the course twice or until the ride support ends.  After the first few weeks, we then add in hills to our rides.  If you are planning on riding the MS150 you will be ready to roll out strong.  If you just want to increase your riding ability this is the way to do it.  Every year I enjoy this series more than the year before! - Kelly
