Events will spring up on the spur of the moment, people will choose to just hangout at the swimming hole all day and some will go all-in on all the events. It is whatever works for you.
How to get there - The “official” Directions: Estimated Drive Time: 1 Hour from Austin, Texas. Take 290 West out of Austin, through Oak Hills, Drippings Springs and then Henley. Turn right on 3232 -- this turn is very easy to find: It is just over a mile past the small town of Henley and is marked by a sign pointing the way to Pedernales Falls State Park. Stay on 3232 until it “T’s” into FM 2766 (almost at the park entrance – FM 2766 becomes County Road 201 at this point).Turn RIGHT (a left will take you to Johnson City) and go past the park entrance – DO NOT go in the park gate. Continue a little over 2 MILES down County Road 201 (you’ll notice that even though you did not go through the park gate, you are still traveling through the park). Pass an electrical power transfer station on your left at about 1 mile –notice the ranch’s white wooden fence on your left. Continue a few hundred yards over a slight hill. Take a left at the ranch entrance: You’ll see our sign “FLAT CREEK CROSSING.”
New to BCO or just never made it to the "Rock Out Weekend"?
Here's a quick overview of what the fuss is all about. The name comes from originally renting a house to do a bike ride to Enchanted Rock (the rock) and back. But, we got to the house and no one really wanted to ride that hard, it was more of a "hey let's just chill and enjoy the Hill Country"........
Every year more people came and we had to find a bigger house until we settled on Flat Creek Ranch, 500 acres of our own ranch in the middle of the Hill Country (we share a fence line with Pedernales State Park).
There are hiking and biking trails, a private swimming hole, 1000's of stars and room for everyone. It's "rustic" (don't expect mints on the pillows) and comfortable. The property has a "hotel", and several cabins of varying sizes scattered around the ranch. You might see people saying in the RSVP comments "I want to stay in the same room as last year". We do our best to accommodate, help people find roommates if you need one and make sure the rooms fit the people. No worried, no shortage of bathrooms.
There are also several refrigerators to share in the main dining areas and some rooms have a mini fridge. Please feel free to also bring your own coolers.
We have a very large dining hall where we serve dinners and breakfast items are laid out to grab as you go out the door to whatever adventure you have planned for the day (talk about that a little more below).
Dinners and breakfast foods are included in the price - that is Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and Friday, Saturday Sunday mornings. We also put some lunch "fixins" out if you want to grab a sandwich to go for the day. We have some BCO'ers who are amazingly talented in the kitchen and on the grill so expect to be full and happy after dinner and ready to hangout under the stars.
And yes, we do ask everyone to pitch in and help - there will be a sign in board for volunteering.
Prior to the weekend, there will be numerous events posted on the BCO calendar for the weekend. These events include hiking on the ranch and at Enchanted Rock. Biking on the ranch and in the area. Rock climbing in the area. Swimming in our private swimming hole, sight seeing all around the area, from Fredericksburg to blue bonnets in the pastures. Wine tasting & even whiskey tasting at times.
In addition to the events that are posted on the calendar, there is a white board in the dining hall that is used for last minute events, event changes, event ideas, pretty much anything to do with events.......
You can check-in any time after 3:00 pm on 4/20. If you are arriving Friday or Saturday please let us know either via email or in your RSVP comments. When you enter the ranch drive straight ahead until you see a large blue building on your left-hand side (approx .5 to a 1 mile) if you get to either a cattle crossing or a right-hand turn, you went too far. If you are arriving late (after dinner) you will still go to the large blue building, it is the saloon and dining hall. There will be maps and a whiteboard with your name and room on it. There are no keys to pick up. Please note - it's is dark with very few lights.
Pay here at the bottom where it says "member registration" to hold your spot. The cost is $265 per person which includes accommodations & dinners, breakfast "fixins''.
